The problem

What it costs you

Zocdoc can be a good way to fill a schedule. You pay a fee for each new patient who books through it, and that fee varies by specialty and location.

Some of those patients looked for a doctor like you on Google first. If your own profile, website and booking had been there, they could have booked with you directly, with no per-booking fee.

A worked example: put in your own numbers
new patients booked through Zocdoc, as an example 20 a month
bookings you pay a fee on: 20 a month for 12 months 240 a year
what those bookings cost in a year. Your per-booking fee is on your Zocdoc invoice 240 × your fee

Questions

Questions practice owners ask

Is Tely a Zocdoc alternative?

In part. Zocdoc is a marketplace where patients find you. Tely builds your own channels, Google, Maps, AI search and your website, with booking on them, so more patients come to you directly. Some practices use both.

How does Zocdoc charge?

According to Zocdoc’s published pricing, the Marketplace has no upfront or subscription fee and charges a fee per new-patient booking, which varies by specialty and location. Your own agreement has your rates.

Should I stop using Zocdoc?

That is your call. We suggest watching the numbers: as more patients book you directly, you can decide how much you still need a marketplace.

How is this different from paying a directory?

A directory rents you a spot on its marketplace, next to the practices you compete with. Your own website, Google listing and online booking are a channel you own: patients who find you there book with you directly. We go through costs for your practice on a call.

Who owns the website and the patient data?

Your practice does, during the engagement and after it.

What does building your own channels cost?

It depends on your specialty and how many locations you have. Bring your Zocdoc invoice to a short call and compare.
